Creating 3D model of airplane with Google ScetchUp - part two

Continued. Now we have an airframe and engines. Next we need have a cockpit. As first, I create a canopy frame =)

For this I create a vertical surface, then repeat the airframe contour near cockpit at this surface. Canopy surface I was hide (select surface, after softing edges all surface was select as one polygon, than we must do only three click, end execute "Hide" command from context-menu)

Surface, was created now, looks like this (I rarely used this method, but it very faster):

Next step - draw contour of canopy frame:

After we use "Push/Pull" tool, for make intersection with our frame and canopy surface (when frames don't want intersection, repeat operation with pressed Ctrl key).
Select one from intersection surface (I recommend canopy), and execute "Interselect->Interselect with Model" command from context menu:

Remove all auxiliary surfaces:

Now we can apply for canopy surface any transparent material, for glass imitation:

Temporary hide "glass", for completing canopy frame with "Push/Pull" and "Interselect" tools:

As result we get this:

Next we must prepare space for pilot ejection seat and instruments.

Draw vertical edges down at same level from all vertex of down side of canopy frame, and combine all vertex of these edges as one surface we get half of cockpit floor:

Remove internal part of wing, then I want install two seat (because I want trainer aircraft):

I already download a model of jet-seat from warehouse, and use it at all my aircraft - unification =)
File->Import and install one jet-seat, and copy them as "Move/Copy" tool:

Now I want create a dashboard:

When dashboard was completed we may placed instruments at dashboard. I use rectangles and circle in right place, then "Push/Pull" tool and colouring. Stick, throttle and MFD I import from other files, same as jet-seat:

After this I create wing mechanisation - begin from ailerons.

Draw contour at other surface, "Push/Pull", "Interselect" - and we can roll:

As same method I create flaps:

And same method used for rudder and elevator:

In general mechanisation was completed. For better visibility I added fairing for hydraulic actuator:

Create small object, soften edges, make group and placed their copy at right places:

Create a rounded wing tip:

Draw circle at place, where will placed wheels of landing gear:

Next draw a profile of wheel and apply "Follow me" tool:

A part of nose gear fork:

Mirror part of fork, combine two parts of fork by cylinder, and add two coaxial cylinders - hydraulic shock absorbers:

Also add connecting link between fork and shock absorbers. Next - bay for landing gear, nose landing gear door and extension systems:

Create a group from landing gear, try to retract it into fuselage, and extend down...
When our landing gear retracted, create a bay for landing gear, and landing gear doors:

A wheel for main landing gear:

Use "Follow me" tool for creating part of main landing gear:

Hinge (rotary kinematic pair of 5 class =)) at end of detail:

Main landing gear will be complete, when I create a some small part - hinge, landing light, hydraulic pipes, etc.

Some small detail - chaff and flare dispenser, and rounded tail tips;
